Edinburgh’s seaside suburb has a long industrial past, with glassworks and potteries once lining the shore. You can still find white and green sea glass here, along with plenty of pottery shards, and two of the old brick kilns remain just behind the beach. Search along the tideline at low tide, anywhere along the promenade. Similar finds also turn up around South Queensferry, Prestonpans and Cramond.
