Fossil hunters come here and walk straight past the glass. The town rubbish tip sat on the cliffs from Victorian times to the 1960s, and the landslips keep spilling it onto EAST BEACH: "people come here to find fossils; they leave the glass and pottery." Best after a storm. Reach it by walking east from the seafront along Church Cliff Walk, or down the 114 steps from the Charmouth Road car park. The beach is cut off at high tide, so check the tides. Safety: Black Ven behind it is one of the most active landslip sites in Europe, so stay off the base of the cliff.
