The glass at Olas Altas sits in and among the rocks, not on the open sand. The collector who reported it worked the north end below the La Siesta hotel four or five times a week, wading in and scooping just inside the water line. That is where it is, and that is also why this one is not for everyone: it is a Pacific shore with a real swell, the rocks are slippery, and the sand cover over them shifts with the season. Mazatlán has been throwing glass at this shoreline for generations, so the pieces come out well tumbled. Go at low tide, wear something on your feet, and do not turn your back on the water.
