This is the windward side of the island, one of the few open beaches on it, and the shore where the Caribbean puts everything it has been carrying. Shells and worn glass collect along the tideline; most of what comes up is craft grade: bottle greens and browns from the hurricane-gutted hotels the island has lost over the years, with the occasional aqua. It is a no-swim coast: the undertow is strong and the coral underfoot is dry and sharp enough to cut. Bring water shoes with grip, take the glass, and leave the shells and the coral where they are.
